Vegan Kaiserschmarren

I love everything that is baked in a pan, be it pancakes or Kaiserschmarren - for me, this is absolute soul food. I have always loved eating Kaiserschmarren, and it was often difficult to find a vegan version, especially in the mountain huts. That's why I'm sharing my super simple but incredibly delicious vegan alternative with you today!

Ingredients

These Ingredients make:

2 Portions
  • 175 g Spelt flour Type 630
  • 100 ml Mineral water
  • 220 ml Oat milk
  • 35 ml Agave syrup or maple syrup
  • 2 TL Baking powder
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1 EL Vinegar (apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar)

Toppings

  • Powdered sugar
  • Applesauce or plum jam
  • Pomegranate seeds

Instructions
 

Prepare the dough mixture

  1. In a bowl, mix together the spelt flour, mineral water, oat milk, agave syrup, baking powder and a pinch of salt while stirring.
  2. Add a tablespoon of vinegar and stir well to obtain a uniform batter mixture.

Bake and tear the dough

  1. Heat a pan and melt the margarine in it.
  2. Pour the prepared batter into the pan.
  3. Bake the dough for 4-5 minutes per side over a medium heat until golden brown.
  4. Tear the baked dough into small pieces.

Serve

  1. Serve the Kaiserschmarren on a plate.
  2. Sprinkle the Kaiserschmarren generously with powdered sugar.
  3. The Kaiserschmarren tastes great with pomegranate seeds, apple or plum sauce.
