I love waffles. They are definitely my favorite! And because I know you love savory dishes, I've created a hearty recipe for you today. Have you ever tried a savory version of waffles? This innovative waffle burger recipe shows you how easy and delicious savory waffles can be. The crispy waffles are topped with a delicious combination of vegan cream cheese, fresh lamb's lettuce, sautéed mushrooms and spicy fried onions, before being finished with a homemade agave mustard dressing. Equipment

  • 1 Waffle iron
  • 1 Pan

Ingredients

These Ingredients make:

1 Burger (1 burger equals 2 waffles)
  • 6 Potatoes Medium size
  • 70 g Flour
  • 100 ml Plant drink (oats, almonds, soy...)
  • 1 TL Salt

Toppings

  • 30 g vegan cream cheese
  • 1 Handful Lamb's lettuce
  • 5 Mushrooms
  • Fried onions
  • Chili

Agave-mustard dressing

  • 2 EL Mustard
  • 3 EL Agave syrup
  • 1 EL Olive oil
  • 1 EL Water
  • 1 Pinch Salt, pepper

Instructions
 

Prepare the dough

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Squeeze out the juice with a kitchen towel.
  2. Mix the grated potatoes with the flour, vegetable drink and salt to form a dough.

Sauté the mushrooms and make the dressing

  1. Clean the mushrooms, cut into slices and fry in a little oil in a pan.
  2. Season with a pinch of salt. When they are golden brown, remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Mix the mustard, agave syrup, oil, water, salt and pepper in a bowl to make a dressing.

Baking and topping waffles

  1. Preheat the waffle iron and bake the batter in batches to make two golden-brown waffles.
  2. Spread the freshly baked waffles generously with vegan cream cheese and top with lamb's lettuce, sautéed mushrooms and fried onions.
  3. Season with chili to taste and drizzle the prepared agave-mustard dressing over the topped waffle.
  4. Place the 2nd waffle on top as a lid
  5. Now all you have to do is take a seat and enjoy this unique waffle burger to the full!
